Spatial Reasoning

The Spatial Reasoning Group at Oxford studies problems whose solution is highly dependent on the exact shape of objects. Examples of spatial reasoning problems include:

  • Collision detection (telling whether two simulated objects occupy the same space at the same time)
  • Path planning (working out how to move objects whilst avoiding collisions)
  • Wire-loom design
  • Putting together a jig-saw
